In 2026 Fencing Victoria hosted our third annual FV Pride Cup, firmly cementing it as an event that is here to stay! We are thrilled to have welcomed our biggest field of players yet with 16 teams all competing for the official Pride Cup trophy.
Our day began with an education session facilitated by Pride Cup educator Rom (she/her) who led our community through several important conversations, such as
– why are pride events necessary?
– how can we make sure FV is welcoming to everyone?
and,
– what makes a good ally?
We were also visited by Game On from the Pride Centre’s Joy 94.9 fm, who covered our event on their social media and interviewed several participants.
The day was overwhelmingly filled with joy and community. I firmly believe Pride Cup represents the heart of Fencing Victoria, and it consistently shows me that it is one that is full of love, empathy, tolerance and respect. Thank you to every single fencer, parent, partner, friend, and family member for showing up with your kindest, bravest selves.
A special thanks to those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day as smooth and fun as it was, it was a team effort and I hope you know how thankful I am – Jasper, Elli and Jenny this event would not be what it is without you!
And lastly (and importantly) thank you to Ed and Katsuki for donating their time and skills to capture the magic of this event (for the third year in a row of Fencing Sport Photography’s support!). These photos are for the community to share, far and wide. They ensure our Pride Cup is visible and unmissable, just like all pride should be.
I hope I see you all again next year, and to those who are seeing how much fun this was, I hope we see you too!
